Edmund Calvin Koutz

1827–1863

Edmund Calvin Koutz (Friedrich Carl Christlieb1, Carl Christlieb2, Sarah Christlieb3) [1007], born 2 March 1827, Mifflin Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania; died 15 September 1863 in the U.S. Army during the Civil War; married, 20 August 1854, Rachel Ludwick, Lyons, Michigan.

“A farmer by occupation, Edmund enlisted late in the Civil War, on March 15, 1865 at Odessa, Michigan. At age 38, he served in Company H of the 15th Michigan Infantry Regiment. He was mustered out at Little rock, Arkansas on august 13, 1865, and returned home to Michigan where he died a month later on September 15, 1865. The implication is that his war service contributed to his death.” Wendell F. Lauth, Bristolville, Ohio.
