Mary J. Christlieb

1828–1888

Mary J. Christlieb (Friedrich Carl Christlieb1, Carl Christlieb2, Jacob Christlieb3) [997], born 1828; died 1888; married, 1849, David Mowry. David Mowry died in 1856. Mary and David Mowry were always residents of Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. David Mowry died between 1860 and 1870. Mary Jane continued to maintain a home in Cumberland County until her death. The 1860 Census lists three children: Emma M. Mowry, age 10; David Mowry, age 5; and Joseph Mowry, age 3. The family residence is given as Newburg, Hopewell Township. The 1870 U.S. Census lists widowed Mary J. Mowry, with children Emma, David, and Allen, age 8. There is no mention of son Joseph. The 1880 U.S. Census lists Emma with husband James Elliot and two children Grace, age seven and James, age one. Also in the household are Mary (Christlieb) Mowry and her son Alger, also known as Allen or Albert Mowry, age 18. Wendell F. Lauth.
