Solomon Christlieb, Jr. (Friedrich Carl Christlieb1, Jacob Christlieb2, Solomon Christlieb3 & Sarah Crislip3) [836, 1034], born 3 July 1833, Mifflin Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania; died 26 April 1907, Mifflin Township, Cumberland County. According to Benjamin Franklin Christlieb, “Solomon Christlieb, Jr. wed Nancy Clippinger.” The Christlieb Family, p. 26. Nancy Clippinger was born in September 1842.
Childless, Solomon and Nancy reportedly reared James A. and Sarah A. Heckman, children of Solomon’s younger sister, Matilda Ellen Christlieb and Joseph Edward Heckman. The 1860 Federal Census 1860 shows the brother and sister in the household of Solomon and Nancy.
The 1860 census shows Abram Whistler and wife Adaline residing next door, along with their daughter, Susan. These Whistlers would have been related to Elizabeth Whistler, first wife of Solomon’s uncle, John Christlieb. According to the census, Solomon Christlieb, Jr. and Abram Whistler held land adjacent to John Lay.

The Federal Census of 1870 shows James A. and Sarah Heckman residing in Solomon’s household. Other residents were Mr. and Mrs. Wilson A. Lay. The census reveals that Solomon’s household was next door to John Lay.
In 1880, the census shows James and Sarah Heckman no longer in the household. Living with Solomon and Nancy Christlieb were Wilson Lay and his wife Sadie and their daughter Jennie.
