Thomas B. Chrislip

1813–1897





Thomas B. Chrislip, born May 15, 1813, in Pepper (Brushy Fork), Harrison County, Virginia; died May 8, 1897, at age 84; married 29 September 1836, Camilla “Millie” Wilson, born 16 October 1811; died 24 October 1866, aged 55 years, 8 days. Camilla was the daughter of Thomas Wesley Wilson and Mary J. Hartley of Monongalia County. Over the course of their 30-year marriage, Thomas and Camilla had seven sons and five daughters. After Camilla’s death, Thomas B. married Elizabeth George, daughter of John and Elizabeth George. The 1870 census shows his wife listed as Elizabeth, age 43. Residing in their home were Abram A. Chrislip, age 19, and Jacob L. Chrislip, age 16.

Thomas B. Chrislip made out his will on 8 May 1895. He died two years later on 15 May 1897.

Various farm implements and household items are mentioned in Thomas B.’s estate sale. Among them were a coverlet and a teapot that had belonged to Thomas’s grandmother, Anna Nancy Singer.

  • George McKendre Chrislip (Friedrich Carl Christlieb1, Jacob Christlieb2, George Chrislep3, Thomas B. Chrislip4) [156], born 5 June 1844; died 18 July 1917. The 1870 census shows George residing next door to his father. George's wife's name is given as Elizabeth, age 26.

  • James Walter Chrislip (Friedrich Carl Christlieb1, Jacob Christlieb2, George Chrislep3, Thomas B. Chrislip4) [156], born 5 June 1845; died before 1850.

  • Amos Chrislip (Friedrich Carl Christlieb1, Jacob Christlieb2, George Chrislep3, Thomas B. Chrislep4) [156], born October 1846.

  • Thomas B. Wilson Chrislip (Friedrich Carl Christlieb1, Jacob Christlieb2, George Chrislep3, Thomas B. Chrislip4) [156], born 8 June 1848; died 3 August 1901; married Hannah Keiziah Sims, sister of John Wesley Chrislip's wife, Elizabeth. The Sims sisters were dauguters of Leonard and Hannah (Reeder) Sims.

  • Abraham Asbury Chrislip (Friedrich Carl Christlieb1, Jacob Christlieb2, George Chrislep3, Thomas B. Chrislip4) [159], born 19 April 1851; died 31 May 1938, Barbour County, West Virginia; married, 28 March 1877, Malissa Victoria McKinney, born 29 December 1849, Marion, Virginia; died 3 November 1936. Both Abraham and Malissa are buried in the Crislip Cemetery at Brushy Fork, Barbour County, West Virginia.

  • Jacob Lloyd Lowndes Chrislip (Friedrich Carl Christlieb1, Jacob Christlieb2, George Chrislep3, Thomas B. Chrislip4) [177], born 27 January 1854; married, 2 August 1881, Vicena Cook; died ca. 28 February 1928, in Scott County, Kansas.
