The Schlosskirche at Dürkheim
Interior Views of the Renovated Schlosskirche
Dating from 946 AD, the ancient church at Dürkheim has undergone four major renovations. These took place in 1180, 1300, 1836, and 1981. Employing the color palette of the regional red sandstone, the last renovation returned the church to the rather plain and austere appearance of Romanesque times.

The baptismal font from 1531. Count Johann Friedrich ordered the font removed, because a Jew had been baptized in it. Later returned by his son and successor, Freidrich Magnus, the font was in place for the baptism of Simon aus Frankenstein, who became Friedrich Carl Christlieb.
